To be responsible for day to day Finance functions at site, working with the Site Director to control costs and develop reporting of robust and timely management information. 

Job Specification/Responsibilities:

  • Verification of accurate weekly stock valuation.
  • Weekly accounts preparation and analysis, including presentation at the weekly P&L review.
  • Review and approval of payment runs and staff payroll.
  • Resolving queries from invoicing, departmental managers, division and group.
  • Preparation and review of the management accounts.
  • Completion of monthly Group returns to Divisional Financial Controller.
  • Tracking and control of capex projects
  • Review and input into Product Costings for new products.
  • Continued development of the sites financial systems including NAV.
  • Verification and challenge of existing product costings and margins.
  • Working with NPD, Commercial and Operational Managers to develop and improve business, customer and product performance reporting.
  • Supporting the operational and commercial teams with relevant information to understand and improve performance.
  • Verification of savings made by changes in factory process.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts including analysis of major movements.
  • Main Point of contact at site for both internal and external audit.
  • Challenge of costs throughout the P&L, in particular overhead related spend across the site.
  • Year-end work; including tax.
  • Challenging other departmental managers on cost control and value for money.
  • Ensuring group policies are being adhered to.
  • Other tasks as required.

The Person:

  • Fully Qualified accountant.
  • Extensive hands on experience in all areas of accounts preparation – financial and management accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • Proactive to help drive forward the business.
  • High level of IT literacy.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to manage and develop the Finance team.
  • Strong character and comfortable with challenging other departmental managers.
  • Excellent time management skills – able to meet tight deadlines individually and as a department.
  • Experience of working cross functionally with the ability to explain financial impacts and issues to non-financial staff, and influence decision making.
  • Not afraid to make unpopular decision – which are in the best interests of the company.

Location: Cranswick Gourmet Bacon, Sherburn-in-Elmet

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Compliance Officer at Cranswick Gourmet Bacon. 

Main duties will include:

  • Supporting Technical Management by organising self/team agenda in the day-to-day running of site compliance program, ensuring that standards are maintained in line with external audit requirements.
  • Assisting in the completion of site based audits at a set frequency against 3rd Party Standards, GMP and Fabrication, Hygiene and documentation.
  • Ensuring that all site requirements for traceability studies are completed within the appropriate timescale and as detailed within the approved schedules.
  • Ensuring that the function of the factory and employees are operating in line with Food Safety requirements.
  • Providing assistance to the Technical Manager in completing all internal audits as per internal audit schedules, hosting some of these audits and providing the information requested.
  • Assisting the Technical Manager in ensuring that any non-conformances raised during internal audits are completed and signed off within the agreed timescales.
  • Providing assistance for any 3rd Party or Retailer visits/audits that take place on site.
  • Assisting the Technical Manager in the collation of all non-conformances that are raised through 3rd Party and Retailer audits/visits into a system to ensure that actions are completed and information can be trended to highlight areas of improvement.
  • Being a member of working parties to resolve root causes for trends that have been highlighted through the review of non-conformances.
  • Completing site based internal audits against BMPA, Retailer Codes of Practices and BRC standards as directed by the Technical Manager.
  • Assisting in the completion of GMP, Fabrication, Hygiene, Documentation, CCP, Pest Control, etc. internal audits on site.This may involve working nights.
  • Ensuring all non-conformances from internal or external audits are validated for suitable close as part of the compliance audit agenda.
  • Managing the traceability system for the site and completing any traceability study that is requested to the required standard and required timescales, co-ordinating with the appropriate manager/supervisors to drive improvements and establish root cause.
  • Reviewing customer complaint data and establishing trends to establish root cause and preventative actions and to work with area managers/supervisors to drive improvements.
  • Being the Label Verification champion for the site.

Butchery (x10 vacancies) – A 12-18 month apprenticeship in partnership with Poultec training. You’ll need to enjoy physical activities and working to targets. You’ll achieve a level 2 food manufacturing diploma (focused on butchery skills and knowledge) and gain experience as a skilled butcher with possible earnings of £10 plus per hour. You need to have passed your GCSE in Maths and English. Pay rate: £5 per hour, upon completion of apprenticeship, this will be reviewed in line with your butchery skill.

Abattoir (x2 vacancies) - A 12-18 month apprenticeship in partnership with Poultec training. You’ll need to enjoy physical activities and working to targets. You’ll achieve a level 2 food manufacturing diploma (focused on abattoir skills and knowledge) and gain experience as a fully trained, licenced slaughter operative with possible earnings of £10 plus per hour. This is a 12-18 month apprenticeship in partnership with Easton and Ottley College. You will work on one of our farming units based in the Brecklands Monday to Friday with day release for college. You need to have a passion for working outdoors with animals/livestock, coupled with a great work ethic.

You’ll achieve a level 2 diploma in agriculture and ready for a career in the farming industry. You need a GCSE pass in Maths and English as a minimum.

Rate of pay: £5 per hour, this will be reviewed on completion on your apprenticeship.

The main purpose of the role is to provide holiday and sickness cover across two of our Cranswick Plc. sites to maintain their security and integrity. To ensure that all vehicles and personnel entering and leaving the site are authorised by management, properly monitored and accounted for. SIA licence desirable but not essential.

As this is a cover role, you must be flexible to work days or nights and travel to the two sites you will provide cover for, based in Watton, Norfolk and Diss, Suffolk. The main duties are:

  • Monitoring movement of staff and staff vehicles on and off the sites
  • Control and use of CCTV
  • Control of access barriers
  • Registration and control of lorry deliveries
  • Registration and direction of visitors and contractors
  • Conducting external site patrols
  • Operating “Stop & Search” procedures
  • Providing Reception cover by answering and recording external telephone calls
  • Maintaining key control
  • Assisting in the enforcement of Company Policy
  • Accurate reporting of incidents
  • Implementing procedure in an emergency situation - e.g. distribution of Fire Pack

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the High Risk department at our site in Milton Keynes.

The Role:

  • Reporting directly to your production management and Supervisory team, working alongside factory colleagues and key disciplines, you will be expected to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills and lead by example to assist the management team to achieve the results and standards required in your area of responsibility
  • To lead the team and assist in the efficient and economic operation of your area of responsibility. Ensuring the processes, production and quality of their products meet the safest and highest specification as per customer and company requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working as part of the team, ensuring there are no production problems but ensuring that the Production Manager is made aware of any concerns.
  • Ensure all those working within your area comply with company and legislative health & safety, food safety and personal hygiene procedures and regulations including pre-production line check sheets.
  • To assist the operational management in achieving or better the performance targets set by the Department Shift Manager
  • To be representative of the companies high standards at all times and to conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner.
  • To operate tools, machinery and equipment for which training has been provided (where required) and to assist in the manufacturing process of all products.
  • To ensure the achievement of the daily production plan and communicate shortfalls and problems to the relevant person in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that product is produced within foods safety, hygiene and quality standards and that any anomalies are reported to your line manager and that correct procedures are followed.

The role holder will monitor quality system compliance and effectiveness through planned audits and independent process control checks to ensure that our products comply with food safety legislation, meet the technical and quality specification and are manufactured at best cost.

The position is more specifically responsible for the auditing and controls within the Cooking and Chilling operation and will also audit processes within the fresh meat and high-risk production areas as and when required. The position is primarily factory based.

Role specifics include:

  • Auditing of good manufacturing practices and improvement of hygiene standards.
  • Ensuring all cooking and cooling records are checked for compliance prior to release for retail slicing
  • Completion of CCP training
  • Liaising with the production teams and senior technical team to consistently review and improve the processes

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Human Resources Administrator to join the Human Resources team at our site in Milton Keynes.

Objectives:

  • To provide efficient and accurate administrative support to the Human Resources department in a FMCG organisation.
  • To assist the HR Manager to ensure the site adheres to employment law and ethical compliance and that company policies and procedures are followed.
  • To be a role model for all employees and an ambassador for Cranswick Convenience Foods, DeliCo.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide Admin support, by the way of recruitment letters, disciplinary letters, probationary period letters etc.
  • Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll
  • Ensure that exit interviews are completed for all leavers, compiling the information for analysis.
  • Input data and produce KPI’s for the weekly management meeting.
  • Inputting personnel / payroll information on time and attendance system ensuring that the information is maintained and up to date.
  • Ordering of Agency staff
  • Ensuring all Paperwork is in place for all employees, including new starters etc Contracts, Job descriptions.
